Cut to the Space

The Mokena Park District's
Program Center was officially opened with a ceremonial ribbon cutting.
The project features an aerobics & dance studio, arts & crafts
classroom, and multi-purpose rooms for pre-school activities and classes. The
children enrolled in park district programs were invited to help cut the
ribbon into their new space.
Architecturally, the subtle
earth tones of the brick, siding, and shingles blend the building with the
surrounding nature. Also, growing foundation plantings will allow for
the base of the building to be defined with greenery and landscape.
Like any other profession,
seeing a finished product helps architects evaluate what made the project a
success to utilize into future endeavors. The Program Center was a
testament to meeting budget and scheduling requirements to open on time for
the park district's fall programs.

As a part of an ongoing effort of upgrades, the Orland Township Parks Department has recently completed construction on its Pinewood Park North. The improvements include a new playground, ADA accessible walking path, and various seating areas. As the project archtiect, Olivieri Brothers worked with the park department to design a winding walking path through the park that would be sensitive to it's neighboring residents and also minimize impact on natural surroundings.
